Calaa Global

An integrated group in the automotive industry

The automotive industry

Calaa Global is a conglomerate in the automotive industry

A vehicle's data is generated at the plant, at the dealership, at the workshop and on the road, and each of those points keeps it separately. Nobody assembles the full series. Without it, the manufacturer does not know how what it sells is actually used, and the buyer does not know what they are buying. The group works on that gap. Its eight companies have a single subject: the vehicle, the data it produces and the technology that reads it.

London · United Kingdom

The group is incorporated in the market with the most open sector data

A conglomerate built on vehicle data depends on where that data is public and comparable, and that condition sets the standard it carries into every other market. The companies are British and the leadership works in London, where the decisions affecting all seven divisions at once are taken.

The country, a dimension of the model

Cal-1 was designed international, and that is decided in the data model

Vehicle regulation changes with the jurisdiction. Mandatory inspection, ownership registration, taxation and the history a seller must produce do not match across markets, and none of the four is solved by translating an interface. Cal-1 treats jurisdiction as a dimension of the model from the first line. The consequence is measured in calendar time. Opening a market is content work, not a rewrite.

In the vehicle and in orbit

A vehicle measured without its surroundings explains half of it

On-board telemetry describes a vehicle precisely and does not explain its context. Consumption above forecast may be a fault or it may be that week's temperature and traffic density, and Cal-1 Link, the device fitted inside the vehicle, does not tell one from the other. The second layer is built by KRN, the orbital observation programme of Calaa Robotics, whose first planned satellite is KRN-01. It contributes traffic corridors, road surface conditions and the state of the infrastructure, always on patterns and never on identified vehicles, which is at once the legal limit and the limit of useful resolution.

What the sector contracts from four suppliers sits in-house here

A manufacturer that wants to measure how its vehicles are actually used contracts the study, the on-board unit, the platform that collects the data and the channel that reaches the driver separately. Each of those four contracts sets which data leaves, which stays and for how long, and the result is that nobody assembles the full series. The group's seven divisions cover those four capabilities. Data leaving one reaches the next without renegotiating a contract, and the series is kept whole.

A single sector

To be the largest technology conglomerate in the automotive sector

This is written as an ambition, not a forecast. A goal like this is only worth stating if it can be disproved, and what would disprove it is visible on this same site. If a division stops publishing what it delivers and with what result, the ambition no longer holds. The limit the group sets itself in the meantime is not to leave this sector, however well one of its technologies might serve in another.

01The divisions

Calaa Capital

The parent company

Allocates the divisions' capital and approves what each one builds. A single body decides, and that is the difference that settles an investment in the same week it is raised.

02The divisions

Calaa Mind

Sector consulting

Measures the market for those who build, distribute or sell vehicles, and delivers the study with its method on show. It also says when the work being asked for is not the work that is needed.

Calaa Lab

The technology engine

Builds and maintains the infrastructure the others run on. Models, a distributed registry and the group's internal applications. What a division needs in order to operate is not contracted out.

04The assets

Calaa

The intelligence layer

Data from a workshop, a dealership and a fleet is written differently and cannot be compared. Calaa normalises it and makes it queryable, which is the condition for the rest of the group to work on the same information.

Cal-1

The product

The only company in the group with its own domain and users outside it. It brings into one application what is today spread across listing portals, workshops, driving schools and catalogues. It lives at cal-1.com.

06The divisions

Calaa Robotics

The hardware

Designs and manufactures what captures data where it is generated, inside the vehicle and on the road. It also publishes what stops being measured when a device fails, the half no catalogue tells.

Calaa Edge

Innovation and talent

Puts capital, a workshop and the rest of the divisions behind an early idea, and writes down what it expects in return before work starts. The consideration is in the agreement, not in the conversation.

How the work circulates

Calaa learns from the whole group, and Cal-1 returns it to the industry

Eight companies and a single route. The divisions measure the market, build the infrastructure and manufacture the equipment that captures data where it is generated. Calaa normalises it and turns it into judgement. Cal-1 carries it to whoever builds, sells or repairs a vehicle. All of them talk to each other, and even so the work runs in one direction.

The group's flow

From field data to a plant's decision

The heavy line marks the main route, the judgement Calaa hands to Cal-1. The fine lines are the constant exchange between divisions. The arc on the right is the return from the sector, and it is what stops the group deciding on year-old information.

Every stretch has exactly one company behind it

Each company covers a stretch, and the next begins where the previous one ends. Whoever comes in through one of them does not explain the brief again at the next.

Consolidation

Receives from the six divisions and from what comes back from the sector. Here the data stops belonging to one company and becomes the group's.

Distribution to the sector

A single destination for everything above. What leaves here reaches whoever builds, sells or repairs a vehicle.

Plants · Dealerships · Workshops · Fleets

Note

Each company publishes its full scope in its own window, including what it does not do.

Coverage

Cuatro tecnologías, cuatro oficios y cuatro territorios: sesenta y cuatro casillas, y ninguna vacía

The objective

A single route for the whole automotive industry

The sector can rely on the complete circuit. Today a manufacturer contracts the study in one place, the equipment in another and the software in a third, and none of them answers for what the previous one did. Here what happens in a workshop returns to the group as data, and the next decision is taken with it.
